About ING statements
Excel (XLSX) is Microsoft's spreadsheet format with support for multiple sheets, cell formatting, formulas, and charts. ING PDF statements use DD/MM/YYYY dates and European number formatting where commas are decimal separators and dots are thousands separators. ING prints dates as DD/MM/YYYY and amounts as 1.234,56. In the Excel file the Date column holds real date cells shown as yyyy-mm-dd, and Amount is a number cell rather than text, so 1.234,56-style separators never need to be fixed by hand before you sum or filter.
ING statement details the parser handles
- Period header uses 'Periode: DD/MM/YYYY - DD/MM/YYYY' with DD/MM/YYYY dates — slash-separated, unlike Deutsche Bank's dot-separated DD.MM.YYYY
- Numbers follow the European 1.234,56 convention (comma-decimal, dot-thousands), so '3.850,00 EUR' means 3,850.00 euros — easy to misread as 3.85 if treated as US format
