About Citi statements
OFX (Open Financial Exchange) is an XML-based format designed specifically for exchanging financial data between institutions and personal finance software. Originally developed by Microsoft, Intuit, and CheckFree, OFX is the standard import format for Quicken, Mint, and many other financial management applications. Citibank statements present transactions with Date, Description, Debit, Credit, and Balance columns. Credit card statements group transactions by billing period with separate sections for payments, credits, and purchases, each parsed individually.

The account currency, USD, is written into the OFX CURDEF tag. Because the account is in USD the file header declares USASCII / 1252, the legacy encoding US accounting software expects. The OFX <NAME> field is cut to 32 characters, and the longest Citi description prefix ("Interest Charge on Cash Advances", 32 characters) already fills it, so the merchant part of that line does not survive in <NAME>.
