How to Convert a Barclays Statement PDF to CSV

Barclays is the UK's largest retail bank, serving 48 million customers. Monthly PDF statements are the standard document for account history, mortgage applications, visa applications, and tax filing. But Barclays, like most UK banks, provides these as PDF only.

If you need to reconcile your Barclays transactions in a spreadsheet, import them into accounting software like Xero or QuickBooks, or simply organize your spending for tax season, you need a way to get structured data out of the PDF. That's what ConvertStatement does.

Log in to Barclays Online Banking at barclays.co.uk. Select your current account or savings account. Navigate to "Statements" from the account menu and select the statement period.

Barclays provides statements in PDF format. The statement includes your sort code, account number, and all transactions for the period with Money out, Money in, and Balance columns.

You can also request paper statements to be sent by post, but the PDF download from online banking is the fastest route.

Upload your Barclays PDF at convertstatement.com. The parser identifies Barclays statements from the document layout and handles the UK-specific formatting: DD/MM/YYYY dates, GBP pound amounts, and the Money out / Money in column structure.

The preview shows every transaction extracted from the statement. Barclays statements sometimes include additional detail lines under a transaction (payee references, direct debit numbers). These are captured in the description field.

Barclays statements use DD/MM/YYYY dates (e.g., 15/03/2026 means 15 March 2026, not March 15). US-built tools often misinterpret these as MM/DD/YYYY, turning 15 March into an invalid date.

Barclays current account statements show daily transactions with standing orders, direct debits, card payments, and transfers. The balance updates after each transaction.

Savings account statements are simpler — typically showing interest payments and transfers in/out. Both follow Barclays' standard column layout (Date, Description, Money out, Money in, Balance) and both are handled by the same parser.

If you have multiple Barclays accounts, convert each statement separately. The export files can be combined in Excel or imported individually into your accounting software.

Does this work with Barclays Business accounts? Barclays Business current account statements follow a similar format to personal accounts and should convert correctly. Business-specific statement layouts may vary.

What about Barclaycard credit card statements? Currently, ConvertStatement supports Barclays current account and savings statements. Barclaycard credit card statements have a different layout that we're working on adding.

Is the sort code and account number included in the export? The export focuses on transaction data (dates, descriptions, amounts, balances). Account identifying information from the header is not included in the CSV/Excel output for privacy.

Can I use this for visa or mortgage applications? ConvertStatement converts PDFs to structured data formats. For visa or mortgage applications, the original PDF statement is typically required. Our tool is designed for data extraction, not document reproduction.
